This set makes for great utensils and comes equip with a sheath. All parts are durable and functional. I would give it 4 stars if you could fold out the knife part without using two hands.

What a great companion for any outdoorsman or outdoorswoman! I bought mine in 2009 for an upcoming backpacking trip to West Virginia. I wore it all day every day for five consecutive days and used it for each meal and snack break on the trail. I didn't use the knife blade much because I had a Ka-bar bowie knife (model 1236, check it out!) with me which was also great. Since then the Hobo has accompanied me to Maine, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and other eastern states for various outdoor trips. It has also seen use in the workplace because I bring my own lunch. I find it very satisfying to have an all-in-one utensil knife and be able to clean it after each use as opposed to using numerous plastic utensils or my finer table utensils. This product is truly the real recycling solution. A few words about the sheath, it is of good quality material and it accommodates both large and small belt widths (up to 2" easy). I do wish it had snap closure rather than Velcro because I do see that wearing out some day. The blade hones easily and acquires a very sharp edge. The fork will not bend on tough food and it also has a built in bottle opener for your beer. The spoon is equally sturdy and has the right shape and depth to eat soup or use as a measuring spoon. Ka-bar used to offer another model of hobo that didn't pull apart but had a can opener along with the integrated bottle opener. It also came in multiple colors. I don't know why they discontinued it several years ago. Anyway, this hobo will see many more happy trails and rivers and I can't wait to use it on my upcoming Wyoming trip. Thanks again Ka-bar!

I have used several hobo knives in the past and they sucked. This one is awesome. I separates into 3 utensils so you don't have to close and open blades to eat. You don't have to look for your silverware because you can keep it on you. Finally, you don't need a PHD to take it apart and put it together. Buy thi sknife.

This knife is great! I like the shape & size. The last "hobo knife" I had sucked because it came apart too easily and ended up rusting out. It was a piece of crap. But this one is perfect. It slides apart easily and is easy to clean when you're done. That is a nice feature. Because of the kind of steel it is made of, I don't have to worry about rust @ all. Also, I use it almost everyday when I take my lunch to work. If it's Ka-Bar, I know it's all good!

I bought mine a little over 30 years ago while I was in Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Strom. Great little piece. I am experiencing difficulty with assembly and disassembly but I attest that due to the age of mine. Don't regret my purchase at all.

I have owned several brands of hobo tools. I like KBar's the knife is sharp and fork is usable in Emergency situation, as is the spoon except the spoon is rather small. The bottle opener needs to be sharper on the part that goes underneath the bottle cap because it will not open Mexican beer. did I say that the knife is very sharp, the other big issue I have with it is now that it has been separated many times sometimes when I'm using something, the other components will slip away from it.

Nicest compact set up for utensils I have ever found. I've used mine for probably 30 years or more. It still functions as well as it did new. The design also keeps your utensils quiet in your pack. I've never been unhappy with my Hobo .

To many of you this will sound silly but I am left handed and this is the only hobo knife I have ever found where the FORK works with exceptional comfort with either hand. All other models and brands that I have tried break when using fork. I am seriously impressed with the knife blade, it holds and edge very well. The fork is a bit small but I gladly except the STRENGTH, made by the can opener in fork design. The spoon looks as though it is a bit bulky to have added to your hip, however it is sleek and is very functional! Although you may not always need a spoon, if your carrying fork and knife why not the spoon. This is a backpackers dream and well worth a man or woman"s dollar. Sheath is strong and durable, holds up in the most extreme conditions for a nylon sheath. Strongly recommend!!!!!!!!
